Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Canto ("the app"). By using the app, you agree to them.
What the app does
Canto lets you sign in with your Google account to browse your own YouTube playlists, and plays videos through YouTube's own embedded player with tools for jumping between and looping chapters found in a video's description. The app does not host, store, download, or redistribute any video or audio content — all playback streams directly from YouTube.
Your Google account
Signing in is optional but required to browse playlists. You're responsible for the activity on your own Google account, and for complying with YouTube's own Terms of Service and the Google Terms of Service, which govern the video content and your YouTube account itself.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Canto to circumvent YouTube's API quotas or access restrictions, attempt to download or extract media outside of normal playback, reverse engineer the app's sign-in flow, or use it for any unlawful purpose.
Content ownership
Canto claims no ownership over any video, audio, title, description, or thumbnail displayed through it. All such content belongs to its respective creators and rights holders on YouTube.
No warranty
Canto is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Chapter timestamps are parsed automatically from a video's own description and may be missing, incomplete, or inaccurate depending on how a creator formatted it — we don't guarantee their accuracy.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Termination
You may stop using Canto at any time by signing out and/or deleting the app. We may update or discontinue the app at any time.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
